As an organisation seeking community mental health and wellbeing, Lifeline Macarthur and Western Sydney is available to listen, without judgement, to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.

About Us

Our team is here to listen without judgment. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling with thoughts of suicide, or simply need someone to talk to, we’re ready to support you.

We are a community-based organisation providing vital mental health, crisis support, and suicide prevention services to people across Western and South Western Sydney, the Southern Highlands, and the Southern Tablelands. As part of the national Lifeline network, we combine the strength of a nationwide mission with deep local connections—serving more than 2.7 million people across 16 local government areas.

We exist to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone and are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope.

What We Do

We deliver a wide range of services, including:

  • 24/7 crisis support with call centres at Smeaton Grange and Parramatta.
  • Suicide prevention support – Aftercare, Eclipse Groups, Bereavement Groups and local Suicide Prevention Networks.
  • Community Outreach and Financial Counselling.
  • Nationally Accredited Crisis Supporter Workplace Training
  • Training in Mental Health, Suicide Awareness and Domestic Violence Response Nationally Accredited Training.

We operate six Lifeline Shops that offer lower-price alternatives, promote sustainability through re-use and recycling, and raise funds for suicide prevention and crisis support: at Camden, Campbelltown, Castle Hill, Liverpool, Narellan and Tahmoor.

The telephone counselling service in the Macarthur region began in July 1978 at Camden Wesley Hall as a project of Lifeline Parramatta—which itself started in 1974—and evolved over time into the organisation we know today as Lifeline Macarthur and Western Sydney .
